WENDY'S APPLE CAKE

1 tsp fine dry bread crumbs
½ cup butter
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 ¾ cup flour
2 tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
8 apples, peeled and cored, cut in thin slices – at least in 8ths
2 tbsp sugar
1 tsp sugar
¼ cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 tbsp flour
½ tsp vanilla
½ tsp almond extract
Sprinkle breadcrumbs on bottom of greased 9 inch (3L) springform pan. In mixing bowl, cream butter. Beat in 1 cup (250mL) sugar and 2 eggs. Mix in flour, baking powder and salt. Spoon batter into prepared pan.
Stand apples up on ends in batter around the whole pan. Combine 2 tbsp (25mL) sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle over apples. Bake in 375 degree F (190 degrees C) for 60 minutes depending on your oven – don’t over bake.
Meanwhile combine remaining ingredients. After cake has baked, pour mixture over cake and bake for another 30 minutes. Cool in pan before removing sides of springform pan.
